Attorney Gail Grossman has a very unique and well-rounded experience practicing criminal law. She graduated from one of the top law schools in the country, Georgetown University Law Center, where she participated in the street law clinic. She served as an Assistant State Attorney prosecuting thousands of criminal cases. Ms. Grossman is an entrepreneur, opening her own law firm which she operated for 26 years, defending criminal and civil cases. She was appointed to the bench and was a part time Traffic Magistrate hearing traffic infraction cases. She was also an Assistant Public Defender defending indigent people accused of committing crimes. She is now back in private practice defending people accused of committing various crimes. She has the unique experience of seeing the criminal justice system from all sides – The State Attorney Side, the Private Defense side, from the Bench as a Traffic Magistrate, from the Public Defender side, and now again from the Private Defense side. Attorney Gail Grossman has been practicing criminal law for 35 years. She began her criminal career as in the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office, working for Janet Reno as an Assistant State Attorney. Attorney Grossman prosecuted thousands of criminal cases ranging from attempted murder cases to criminal traffic cases. During her career as an Assistant State Attorney, Ms. Grossman made thousands of filing decisions, deciding whether to file the criminal charges against someone once the police arrested them. This decision making process gave Ms. Grossman a unique perspective of learning how prosecutors think and what thought processes go into making a filing decision on a case. As an Assistant State Attorney, Ms. Grossman litigated against some of the finest criminal defense attorneys in the country. She also was afforded the unique opportunity to prosecute cases in the multi-cultural, multi-diverse town that Miami was and still is to this day. |
Ms. Grossman obtained an understanding of the many different cultures and backgrounds of the people who live in Miami and that experience help to make her a well rounded individual.
Ms. Grossman obtained even more criminal law experience when she left the State Attorney’s Office in 1985 and started her own law firm. Once in private practice, Ms. Grossman became a criminal defense attorney, defending thousands of criminal cases over her 26 years in private practice. Having just left the State Attorney’s Office, Ms. Grossman had the unique perspective on knowing how prosecutors think and what charging decisions they make on cases, and what plea offers they are most likely to make on cases. In private practice, Ms. Grossman defended clients in a range of cases from the most serious murder cases to the less serious traffic infractions and everything in between. While in private practice, Ms. Grossman was appointed to the bench by the Chief Judge of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit to serve as a part time Traffic Magistrate. Ms. Grossman sat as a Traffic Magistrate for three and a half years, hearing thousands of criminal infraction cases and rendering decisions on each case. In 2011, Ms. Grossman moved to Central Florida and went to work for the Public Defender’s Office for the Fifth Judicial Circuit of Florida which encompasses Sumter, Marion, Lake, Citrus, and Hernando counties. Ms. Grossman started in the Ocala, Marion County Office and then moved the the Bushnell, Sumter County Office. While in the Public Defender’s Office Ms. Grossman defended indigent people accused of all types of crimes from the most serious: Attempted Murder, DUI Manslaughter, Armed Robbery, Sexual Battery, etc. to the least serious: Grand Theft, Possession of Cocaine, Driving Without a License, etc. Attorney Grossman’s 35 years of criminal law experience from all sides of the justice system gives her a great knowledge, a unique perspective, and an advantage in defending criminal cases.
